About Coach Taylor

Southeastern Baptist College is excited to welcome Drew Taylor as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Charger Baseball.

A native of Meridian, Mississippi, Coach Taylor brings a diverse background in championship-level training, athletic development, and Christ-centered leadership. His experience spans both high school and collegiate athletics, and he's deeply committed to building strong, disciplined athletes on and off the field.

Coaching Background

Prior to joining SBC, Coach Taylor served as the head strength coach at Jackson Prep, where he designed and implemented performance programs for multiple sports—including baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball. During his two-year tenure, Prep teams won multiple MAIS state championships, including the 2024 baseball title led by top MLB Draft pick Konnor Griffin.

Before Jackson Prep, Taylor served as a firefighter for the City of Madison while working as a graduate assistant strength coach at Mississippi College, his alma mater. There, he trained football, track and field, softball, basketball, and baseball athletes while earning his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification.

Playing Career & Education

Taylor was a two-year starter at middle linebacker for Mississippi College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in kinesiology. At Russell Christian Academy, he earned all-conference honors as both a quarterback and linebacker, threw for 2,800 career yards and 59 touchdowns, and logged 150 tackles. He also won three state championships in powerlifting, setting the foundation for his strength-based athletic philosophy.

Family & Faith

Coach Taylor and his wife Brookelyn—his college sweetheart—live in Petal, Mississippi, with their one-year-old daughter, Aven Caroline. Together, they are excited to invest in the spiritual and athletic growth of Charger student-athletes.

From the Baseball Program

"Coach Taylor is a game-changer for our team. His commitment to faith, and player development aligns perfectly with our mission here at Southeastern. He's already making an impact with our baseball guys—our pitchers are stronger, our position players are quicker, and the accountability is next level."
