The Southeastern Baptist College Chargers are excited to announce the signing of Chaz Branum from Brantley High School in Brantley, Alabama, to continue his baseball career in Laurel.

One of the top middle infielders in Alabama, Branum has established himself as a proven winner and consistent performer throughout his high school career. The right-handed infielder brings versatility, athleticism, and a high baseball IQ to the Chargers as SBC continues to build a championship-caliber program.

Branum is listed at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, bats and throws right-handed, and has competed for American Legion Post 70 while earning exposure through Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Alabama. He owns a 3.70 GPA, demonstrating the same commitment in the classroom that he displays on the field.

His accomplishments have continued to grow each season. After earning ASWA Class 1A Honorable Mention All-State recognition as a junior designated hitter in 2025, Branum elevated his game as a senior by being named ASWA First Team Class 1A All-State at infielder in 2026—an honor reserved for the state's top players.

Branum also delivered one of the most impressive postseason performances in Alabama this spring. During Brantley's opening-round playoff sweep of Choctaw County, he went 4-for-5 with three doubles, one home run, five RBIs, and multiple extra-base hits, earning recognition by Prep Baseball Alabama as one of the top performers in the AHSAA State Playoffs.

Brantley High School enjoyed an outstanding 2026 season, winning 13 consecutive games and advancing to the Alabama Class 1A State Playoffs before finishing the year ranked among the top teams in the classification.

"Chaz is exactly the type of player we want in our program," said Assistant Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Lee Rich. "He's a competitor with outstanding character, plays the game the right way, and has a tremendous work ethic. He's proven himself against quality competition and will fit our culture extremely well. We're excited to watch him continue to develop as a Charger."

Branum becomes another outstanding addition to a Charger recruiting class focused on bringing in high-character student-athletes who are committed to excellence in the classroom, on the field, and in their faith.
