Southeastern Baptist College put together a competitive showing on Tuesday, earning a win in game one before falling in the nightcap.
Game 1: Chargers Ride Jeansonne's Complete Game to Victory
Southeastern Baptist College set the tone early and controlled the game throughout in a 5-1 win.
The Chargers manufactured a run in the first inning as Shooter Holyfield executed a well-placed sacrifice bunt to bring home the opening run. SBC added to its lead in the third inning with productive at-bats, including an RBI from Matthew Villanueva, continuing to build momentum offensively.
Aiden Jeansonne delivered a strong, composed outing on the mound, going the distance while allowing just one run on five hits. He struck out five and did not issue a walk, keeping the opposition off balance all game.
At the plate, Holyfield led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 performance and an RBI. Villanueva and Tre'Von Wynn each drove in runs as the Chargers capitalized on key opportunities.
Defensively, SBC was sharp, turning two double plays and playing error-free baseball. TJ Gordon led the team with five chances in the field, helping anchor a clean defensive effort.
Game 2: Chargers Battle but Fall in Nightcap
In game two, Southeastern Baptist College faced an early deficit and was unable to recover, falling 8-1.
The Chargers continued to compete throughout, with Dilon Booth leading the offense with a two-hit performance. Shooter Holyfield added an RBI, while Jeremiah McKinney created opportunities on the bases with two stolen bases.
On the mound, Bryson Baker provided a steady effort in relief, striking out five over 4.2 innings and helping limit further damage as the game progressed.
Despite the result, SBC showed flashes of competitiveness and effort, continuing to build experience and depth as the season moves forward.
