Holyfield began his varsity baseball journey as early as 8th grade, earning playing time in the outfield and showing early promise. He quickly became a staple for Millry, earning honors such as All-County Outfield, All-State Honorable Mention, the MHS Outfield Award, and Team MVP during his high school career. In later years, he demonstrated his athletic versatility by playing multiple positions — including left field, center field, and various infield spots — while also contributing on the mound when called upon.

Beyond athletic versatility, Shooter excelled off the field with strong academics and community involvement, holding a 3.3 GPA, earning A/B Honor Roll, and participating actively in school, church, and local activities.
