Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Slow Start Too Much to Overcome as Chargers Fall to Saints

In their second game at the Champion Christian Classic, the Southeastern Baptist College women's basketball team faced off against Randall University in a tough match-up at 3:00 p.m. Despite a valiant second-half effort, the Chargers were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling to the Saints with a final score of 67-51.

A slow start plagued Southeastern Baptist, with the team struggling to find their rhythm in the first half. Offensive struggles and costly turnovers saw the Chargers manage only 14 points before halftime. In contrast, the Saints capitalized on their opportunities, heading into the locker room with a commanding 38-14 lead.

However, the Chargers demonstrated resilience in the second half, outscoring Randall University 37-29. This surge was fueled by standout performances from key players. Laura Cobb led the team with an impressive 15 points and 6 rebounds, showcasing her scoring ability and grit on the boards. Sarahia Hurd contributed 13 points, adding energy to the comeback attempt. Kylee Madden chipped in with 12 points, while Sydney Coward provided 9 points, bolstering the Chargers' attack.

Despite winning the second half, Southeastern Baptist's early offensive struggles and turnovers proved insurmountable. The Chargers will look to build on their strong second-half play as they move forward in the season, aiming to play a full 40 minutes of competitive basketball.

The team will regroup and prepare for their next challenge, striving to minimize early-game mistakes and convert promising moments into a complete performance. The Chargers will hit the road for Campbellsville, Kentucky, where they aim to avenge an early-season two-point loss to the Pioneers of Campbellsville University Harrodsburg. This upcoming match-up provides an opportunity for Southeastern Baptist to showcase their resilience and growth as they seek redemption and a crucial road win.
