LAUREL, MS – Southeastern Baptist College lit up A.W. Watson Field Tuesday afternoon with a dominant 16-5 win over NCAA Division I opponent Alcorn State, thanks to a monster performance by sophomore slugger Dilon Booth.
Booth led the Chargers with seven RBIs, delivering at key moments throughout the game. His sixth-inning sacrifice fly tied the game, but it was his seventh-inning grand slam to right field that blew it open. Booth wasn't finished—he added a two-run single in the eighth to cap his career day.
The Chargers totaled 10 hits and drew 12 walks, showcasing patience and power at the plate. Braylon McMillian led the team with three hits from the eighth spot in the lineup, while Hayden Fontana added a pair of singles and two stolen bases.
"We challenged the guys before the game to stay aggressive but composed," said Head Coach Raphael Farrell. "Dilon was locked in, and I'm proud of the way we responded after falling behind early."
Down 5-1 in the sixth, SBC surged ahead on a two-run double by Weston Wales and Booth's sac fly, grabbing a 7-5 lead. They piled on seven more runs in the seventh, highlighted by Austen Shirley's solo homer and Booth's grand slam.
Ryley Reynolds earned the win in relief, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out two. Tyler Miller started the game, striking out three in three innings of work.
The Chargers also made plays defensively, turning two double plays and swiping seven bases, with Fontana and McMillian leading the charge.
With the win, Southeastern Baptist continues its strong mid season momentum and builds confidence heading into regional play.
