Laurel, MS – The Southeastern Baptist College Chargers faced off against the William Carey University Crusaders in men's basketball action, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. Despite a valiant effort in the second half, the Chargers could not overcome a cold shooting performance in the first half, falling to the Crusaders 113-59.
The Chargers struggled offensively in the opening half, resulting in a 46-17 deficit at halftime. However, the team displayed resilience, coming out strong in the second half with improved shooting. Southeastern Baptist found their rhythm from beyond the arc, hitting 5-of-9 three-pointers for 15 points, a significant improvement from just three points from deep in the first half. The Chargers also shot an impressive 51% from the field in the second half, contributing to a 42-point surge.
Key performances for the Chargers included Dillon Woods, who set career-highs in both field goals made (11) and points scored (24), marking the highest single-game total for any Charger this season. Garrison Breedlove also reached double figures with 10 points while leading the team in rebounds with 7.
Despite the second-half resurgence, turnovers and the early shooting struggles proved costly as the Crusaders maintained control and secured the victory.
The Chargers will look to bounce back on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in a home doubleheader against Champion Christian College at the P.M. Cochran Center in Laurel, MS. The women's team will tip off at 3:00 p.m., followed by the men's team at 5:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support both programs as they aim to return to the win column.
